SellPolish rewrites Etsy and Gumroad listings for digital products. This page explains what information I collect, why, and what I do with it. The short version: I collect very little, I use it only to run the service, and I don't sell it.
1. What I collect
When you buy a makeover
- Your name and email address, which Gumroad passes on with your order.
- What you fill in on the order form: your listing URL, the platform (Gumroad or Etsy), your goal or a note, and, if you choose to, who your target buyer is.
- Anything else you choose to email me, such as draft text or screenshots of a listing that isn't live yet.
When you join the email list (for example to get the free listing checklist)
- Your email address, plus your name if you give it.
- Basic email stats that Kit records, such as whether you confirmed your subscription, opened an email or clicked a link.
When you email me
- Your email address and whatever you write.
What I don't collect
- Card or payment details. Payments are handled by Gumroad. I never see or store your card number.
- Passwords or shop logins. I never need access to your Etsy or Gumroad account, and I will never ask for your password.
2. How I use it
- To make your makeover and email it to you as a PDF, and to send any revision. (Gumroad's receipt is your order confirmation. I may also send a short personal note to say I've started.)
- To answer your questions and handle refunds.
- To send the email list emails you signed up for.
- To keep basic business records (for example, which orders were delivered or refunded).
I only review the public listing pages you send me, plus a few comparable public listings for research. I don't contact the sellers of those comparable listings.
3. Your makeover stays private
The makeover PDF I write for you is not shared with anyone else, and I won't use it publicly (for example as a sample or case study) without your permission. The samples on this website are anonymised, with names, titles and figures changed.
4. Who else handles your information
I use a small number of services to run SellPolish. They only get what they need to do their job:
- Gumroad handles checkout, payments, receipts and refunds. Gumroad's own terms and privacy policy apply to the checkout: https://gumroad.com/privacy
- Kit (kit.com), my email provider, stores the email list, runs the signup form, delivers the free checklist and sends list emails.
- Gmail (Google) handles order and support emails, including sending your makeover PDF. Mail to hello@sellpolish.com is forwarded there by our domain provider, Namecheap.
- Netlify (netlify.com) hosts this website as plain static pages. Like any web host, it processes basic technical data such as IP addresses to serve the site.
Some of these services store data outside Malaysia, for example in the United States. I don't sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
4a. Cookies and analytics
I don't use any analytics or advertising trackers on this site right now. This website sets no cookies of its own and loads its fonts from its own server. The only cookies come from the services above when you use them: Gumroad at checkout, and Kit for the signup form. Gumroad also keeps its own sales analytics (for example, page views and where a sale came from), which I can see in my Gumroad dashboard. If I add an analytics tool later, I'll name it here first.
5. Email list and unsubscribing
Buyers are not added to the mailing list. When you buy a makeover, Gumroad passes your name and email to Kit, where you're tagged as a customer. That's only so I can keep track of who has ordered. You will not get newsletters or other marketing emails unless you choose to join the list yourself, for example by signing up for the free checklist.
When you sign up, Kit sends a confirmation email with your checklist. Every email from the list includes an unsubscribe link. One click and you're off the list. You can also just reply and ask. Order and support emails (like "your makeover is ready") are not marketing and are sent only when needed.
6. How long I keep it
I keep information only as long as it's needed:
- Order details and makeover files: for 12 months after delivery, so I can handle revisions, refunds and questions, and then I delete them. Basic sales records may be kept longer where tax or accounting rules require it.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you.
- Support emails: for as long as they're useful for answering you, then deleted.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask me to:
- tell you what information I hold about you,
- correct it, or
- delete it (unless I have to keep a record for legal or accounting reasons).
Email hello@sellpolish.com and I'll reply within 21 days.
8. Keeping it safe
I use reputable services with secure logins and two-step verification, and I limit what I keep. No system is perfectly secure, but I'll tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects your information.
9. Children
SellPolish is for sellers who are adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Changes
If I change this policy, I'll update it here and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, I'll mention it by email to customers and subscribers.
